The entry-level model Debut III Esprit of the Austrian company Pro-Ject, specializing in the production of vinyl players, is one of the most bought in the world. For reasonable money, this small device is able to offer excellent sound quality.

The design of the device is simple in Spartan, but carefully verified - a dust cover, a table made of MDF, an acrylic disk and an 8.6-inch tonearm, in which the aluminum tube and the platform of the cartridge holder are a single unit. The entire structure rests on the surface with four damping conical legs coated with rubber. The tonearm is equipped with an anti-skating system and has a characteristic hanging weight. It is equipped with an inexpensive, but high-quality Ortofon OM-5E MM cartridge. To prevent unwanted vibrations, a quiet AC motor is decoupled from the turntable using a special mount. By means of a belt drive, the torque is transmitted from the electric motor pulley to the disk support hub. The axle on which the disc is mounted is made of high-quality chrome-plated stainless steel. The bearing for this axis has a brass cage. Switching between rotation speeds (33.3 and 45 rpm) is carried out manually by reinstalling the belt on one of the two engine pulleys. The standard 78 rpm is optionally available, but you will have to purchase an additional pulley. The company catalog contains an external device Pro-Ject Speed Box II (as well as Speed Box SE II), which allows you to change the speed electronically.

The tonearm design is well thought out. It is possible to adjust the azimuth of the pickup head. The mount uses an inverted precision bearing.
