Pro-Ject Automat A1.2 Fully Automatic Turntable

Pro-Ject Audio Systems have always had one purpose since our establishment in 1991: bring HiFi Stereo music enjoyment to as many people as possible. With the A1 we added a completely new range to our portfolio: The AUTOMAT line. The technology allowed us to make automatic turntables without degrading the sound quality & make listening to vinyl easier than ever. The automatic drive is still handmade in Germany by a traditional manufacture with a wealth of experience in making automatic turntables.

AUTOMAT Technology

The fully mechanical automatics are engaged when you press start and the tonearm is automatically moved to the lead in groove of the record. Once playing, the automatics are completely taken out of the equation. And because the automatics are working entirely mechanically – no additional electronics needed – they are truly not influencing or degrading sound quality during playback!

Heavy wooden chassis

The wooden chassis avoids hollow spaces wherever possible. As a result, the chassis’ heavy mass reduces unwanted resonances to a minimum and decouples the A1.2 from outside influences.

Silicon damped feet

The feet effectively decouple the turntable from the surface it is placed on using an internal silicon damping layer. This is an essential feature for every good turntable as it acts as yet another mechanism to ensure your vinyl playback is not influenced by outside interference and resonances.

Ultra-light-mass aluminium tonearm

The A1.2 features an 8.3” ultra-light-mass aluminium tonearm. Together with the Pick it MM E we get extraordinary fast response and detail in terms of transients and microdynamics. Tracking force and anti-skating are factory pre-adjusted which make the A1.2 plug & play ready within a few seconds.

Carbon fibre reinforced headshell

The headshell is a completely new design especially for the A1.2. It is made of carbon fibre reinforced polymer which makes it super stable and rigid, all while keeping the weight at a lowest. The polymer/carbon composite material results in excellent internal damping of resonances.

New die-cast aluminium platter

We removed the stamped aluminium platter of the A1 and d it with a new designed die-casted one. To guarantee a perfect playback the platter is additionally CNC machined.

Perfect speed, phono-preamp, cable

In typical Pro-Ject fashion, the motor is electronically controlled. Easily switch between 33 & 45 RPM with the push of a button. The built-in switchable phono preamp makes the A1.2 incredibly versatile & allows you to connect it directly to any line input or use a phono-preamp. The A1.2 comes with our Connect it E phono cable. It is a semi-balanced, low-capacitance cable, with superior shielding.
