The Lira 5 is a 2-way floorstanding loudspeaker that – just like the flagship 3-way Lira 6 model –delivers top-tier sound in an elegant form factor that effortlessly integrates into any living space. This design was born from the “less is more” philosophy. The engineers eschewed overcomplicated designs in favor of advanced engineering and the meticulous refinement of proprietary components.

Symbiotic Drive concept

The Lira 5 was developed following the proprietary, holistic Symbiotic Drive concept. Under this approach, the drivers, cabinet, and crossover network were engineered from the ground up in a single, unified design process to a cohesive electro-acoustic system. The construction uses carefully selected materials, including Curv (woven polypropylene), Al-Mg (aluminum-magnesium), MDF, and bamboo. The Lira 5is a refined acoustic form that harmonizes seamlessly with its listening environment, bridging engineering precision with minimalist design.

A dynamic synthesis of form and technology

The subtle backward tilt of the Lira 5’s cabinet improves the time alignment of the drivers, resulting in optimal sound projection. The design is based on non-parallel side walls that taper upwards, which not only gives the loudspeaker a sense of visual lightness but, more importantly, effectively mitigates internal standing waves. The rigid MDF cabinet is finished with a multi-layer matte lacquer, marrying timeless aesthetics with exceptional durability. The entire structure is braced with an internal network of bamboo reinforcements and features a 21 mm thick front baffle, ensuring the effective damping of unwanted cabinet resonances.

A modern interpretation of a classical instrument

The magnetic grille, designed for complete acoustic transparency, transforms the loudspeaker into a minimalist, elegant monolith. The distinctive silhouette of the Lira 5 is highlighted by the precisely contoured frame, which accentuates the strong lateral lines of the design. The system’s aesthetics evoke the harmony of the ancient lyre, sfully blending classical inspiration with contemporary design trends. It is this meticulous attention to detail that makes Lira 5 an exceptional instrument for the faithful reproduction of any musical composition.

Advanced high-frequency driver

The 28 mm aluminum-magnesium (Al-Mg) dome tweeter is mounted within a 3D-Guide waveguide featuring an EQ-Ring phase plug, significantly improving off-axis dispersion. A hybrid damping chamber is behind the dome prevents back-wave resonances. The heart of the tweeter is a powerful neodymium magnet. The motor system incorporates a copper cap that protects the driver from overheating while effectively reducing distortion. As a result, the high frequencies sound incredibly clean, smooth, and spacious, delivering a level of quality rarely found in loudspeakers at this price point.

Refined midwoofers

The pair of 150 mm drivers, equipped with custom-designed Curv cones, rank among the most advanced midwoofers of this size available in loudspeakers within this price tier. They feature proprietary, aerodynamically designed die-cast aluminum baskets. The drivers’ motor systems rely on 100 mm ferrite magnets (paired with 1-inch voice coils) and a triple shorting ring assembly, allowing for precise inductance control. The second-generation Dual-Wave suspension enables the reproduction of a wide frequency range while minimizing intermodulation distortion and coloration. This combination ensures a natural, highly resolving midrange paired with deep, tightly controlled bass – a balance notoriously difficult to achieve in midwoofers.

Meticulously engineered crossover

The 2-way crossover network, built with air-core inductors, non-inductive resistors, and polypropylene capacitors, ensures the drivers work under optimal conditions. The simple yet highly refined crossover topology minimizes phase shifts between the drivers, resulting in a significant improvement in sonic coherence compared to popular 2.5-way configurations. It also features dedicated LC-Trap correction circuits to linearize the tweeter’s frequency response. The result is an exceptionally wide and precise soundstage that far exceeds expectations for typical floorstanding loudspeakers. The remarkably fast transient response, impeccable timing, and overall fluidity of the sound are equally noteworthy.

Down-firing bass-reflex port

The Indiana Line Lira 5 features a carefully tuned bass-reflex system with a bottom-firing port. Utilizing the proximity to the floor increases the energy of the bass output and prevents unwanted acoustic interference. The entire structure rests securely on four rubberized feet that mechanically isolate the loudspeaker from the floor. Furthermore, these feet ensure the proper operation of the bass-reflex system, enabling a low resonant frequency without any audible port turbulence or compression.

Less is more

In developing the Lira 5, the engineers at Indiana Line chose not to overcomplicate the design, focusing instead on refining proven, proprietary technologies. Simplifying the topology while fine-tuning every individual component allowed them to unify all aspects of the design into a highly successful whole, perfectly aligned with the Symbiotic Drive concept. Thanks to this approach, the Lira 5 delivers a transparent, dynamic, and full-bodied sound, challenging significantly more expensive loudspeakers currently on the market.
