AprakstsPassion, performance and precision 80 years in the making - and more affordable than you might think. Isn’t it time you escaped with a Revolution Signature? Bristling with cutting edge acoustic technology, the Revolution Signature DC6 T is a high performance floor standing loudspeaker suited to audiophile quality two channel or high impact home theatre use. The 150mm (6.00") point source, constant directivity Dual Concentric™ drive unit, augmented by an additional 150mm (6.00") bass driver, combines with WideBand™ extended frequency response, premium crossover components, driver earthing and a rigidly constructed, sensuously styled curved trapezoidal cabinet to ensure natural midrange, high intelligibility, airiness and expansive sound staging. Drive unit: The time coherent, point source Dual Concentric™ driver is effectively two drive units, HF and MF/LF, properly merged into one; ensuring there is no loss of energy in the crossover region. The high rigidity chassis, with multi-point fixings for optimal contact with the baffle, minimises vibration and delivers fast tuneful bass, while the rigid multi-fibre paper pulp cone provides accurate bass and dynamic midrange with excellent intelligibility. Key to the acoustic performance of this award winning drive unit is the WideBand™ tweeter technology. Using a high rigidity titanium dome with neodymium magnet assembly coupled to a rear acoustic cavity, the driver delivers low colouration and meticulously detailed, spacious and airy detail. The substantial magnet assembly is shielded to prevent colour fringing effects when placed close to screens. Crossover design: Great care has been taken over the component topology; kept simple in layout for maximum signal transfer and to minimise interaction between components. Tannoy DMT™ (Differential Material Technology) is used to damp the audiophile grade polypropylene capacitors in the HF feed and low loss laminated core inductors have been selected for the LF section. The internal wiring is silver plated high purity oxygen free copper, with high current bi-wire terminals. The addition of an extra fifth terminal provides grounding for the drive unit chassis, voice coil and speaker cable to reduce the pick up of airborne RF; thus eliminating any feedback interference that can adversely affect the performance of the source electronics in any audio system. Cabinet construction: The high rigidity MDF construction, with its extensive internal bracing, minimises ‘cabinet effect’ colouration and contributes to the clean detail and speed of the presentation. DMT™ (Differential Material Technology) a special Tannoy bracing mechanism, is used between the back of the drive unit and the cabinet to further control vibration, resulting in enhanced resolution of fine detail. The curved wall trapezoidal cabinet construction minimises resonances and internal reflections, while floor standing models are also equipped with spikes for optimum stability and vibration reducing contact with the floor surface; all of which are factors in improving stereo imaging. Clean and contemporary, the hand finished cabinets are available in a choice of Espresso or Light Oak real wood veneers to match traditional and modern interiors. The beautifully integrated brushed aluminium trims, with discreet logo and branding, complete the cool and fully integrated design. Dual concentric™ In the exacting professional world of mixing and mastering, studio engineers demand superior results. The Tannoy Dual Concentric™ co-incident point source technology is renowned worldwide throughout the audio and film industry for its accuracy in the reproduction of sound. For the Revolution Signature range, intensive research and development has produced an updated and highly refined version of this famous, and exclusive, Tannoy drive unit. The time coherent, point source and constant directivity nature of the dispersion characteristics inherent in the Dual make it an accepted industry standard in studio monitoring. By exceeding the rigorous demands of the recording and mastering environment Tannoy can ensure that playback performance in the home, whether in two channel stereo or multi channel home cinema mode, is strictly controlled to accurately reflect the sound engineers artistry. In nature all sounds emanate from a single point in space. The high frequency unit of the Dual, centrally mounted in the throat of the main mid/bass driver, is so positioned as to acoustically replicate this single point source; delivering an involving and natural sound with an incredibly wide imaging 'sweet spot', which serves to create an expansive soundstage with remarkably focussed placement of vocals and instrumentation. The Dual Concentric™ in the Revolution Signature range provides a superior acoustic performance with enhanced dynamics, power handling and efficiency. Wide Band™ Although developed in parallel with the emerging technologies of extended bandwidth SACD and DVDA players, our engineers have long since recognised the improvement that a WideBand™ Tannoy SuperTweeter™ can make to a system, even when using bandwidth limited conventional analogue or digital recorded software. The undisputed benefits of extended high frequency performance have long been recognised by audio enthusiasts and recording professionals worldwide. The key element to understand first of all is that WideBand™ performance drive units are not there simply to increase the amount of high frequency information you perceive, the acoustic benefit is much more subtle than that. It is the enhancement of the frequencies within the accepted audible band that makes this technology so special. The WideBand™ equipped Dual Concentric™ driver, present in all Revolution Signature models, has a 25-micron titanium dome SuperTweeter™ that extends frequency response to 54kHz for breathtaking dynamics, detail and sound staging. Not only does this allow supremely accurate fine detail resolution of high frequencies but such wide bandwidth capability also effectively enhances the listening experience throughout the entire frequency range. WideBand™ technology reduces phase error and significantly improves transient performance below 20kHz. This leads to increased tonal accuracy throughout the whole frequency range, even bass information is faster and tighter, effectively enhancing the total listening experience. Music, speech and soundtrack effects have an increased immediacy, airiness and impact, providing a performance that sounds more natural and true to life. 'Why bother with frequencies only your dog can hear?' This question, often asked, takes us to the very heart of what Tannoy WideBand™ technology is all about. Musical instruments produce considerable energy above 20kHz and, with effects of harmonics and overtones, achieve frequencies well beyond what might generally be considered as the limit of human hearing. For instance, the over 20kHz energy of a trumpet, fitted with a particular type of mute, does not drop into the noise floor until 100kHz. Violin and oboe exhibit energy above 40kHz, while sibilants in speech can also be shown to have energy above 40kHz. Research has shown, through the measurement brain wave activity, which humans do perceive ultrasonic components within music, concluding therefore, that the mechanism of ultrasound transmission is through bone conduction. This is probably via an organ in the inner ear, called the saccule, to the cochlea, the organ responsible for hearing. In addition, WideBand™ technology reduces phase error and significantly improves transient performance below 20kHz.
