The new Magnat Quantum 550 series has been developed with the aim of achieving maximum sound quality in its price class. Based on the experience gained with the more expensive Quantum series, all of the drivers have been developed using state of the art measuring and simulation technology, such as Klippel.

The Deepspace woofer and mid-range drivers make use of warp-resistant aluminium diaphragms. The non-magnetic systems have been developed using the finite element method. Extensive venting within the chassis and around the voice coil ensures high termal resilience. All of these measures result  in a sound which combines the power of the bass reflex speakers. All Quantum 550 units are designed as bass reflex speakers. The reflex tuning process has been conducted based on various output levels. This ensures the accuracy of the bass response is maintained for different types of music and various listening levels.

The F-Max Super Audio tweeter, which is uquipped with an artificial silk dome, has a specially sculpted tweeter flange that optimises horizontal and vertical radiation and reduces interference from edge reflections. The combination of the powerful magnet and a ferro-fluid cooled voice results in a particularly transparent reproduction of the high frequencies, which in turn allows for the placement of highly realistic images within the 3 dimensional space captured in a recording. All Magnat Quantum crossovers feature highly linear and phase coherent characteristics. The networks operate with 24 dB per octave slopes. This precisely defines the output of each driver and allows for a quality of sound disperion which detaches itself from the constraints of the cabinet.

MDF is not the only material that has been used in the cabinet'sconstruction; internal grid-like reinforcing panels have also been used to further enhance its structural integrity. The delta-shaped enclosures reduce the effect of harmful "standing waves" within the enclosure and quarantee acoustic precision along with their sleek looks. The floor-standing speakers are equipped with a solid plinth. Height-adjustable metal spikes and rubber feet are provided to best suit the type of flooring  present.
