The New Vector 200 series has a famous lineage. It is descended from the highly efficient loudspeakers in the original Vector range that were enthusiastically received by fans. The appearance of the highly praised Quantum 500series with its varnished baffles and metal grilles became a model for subsequent products.
The Vector 200 series was developed using the latest measuring and simulation equipment with the aim of achieving maximum sound quality combined with the highest levels of efficiensy thereby allowing the speakers to be used with a wide range of different amplifiers.
The experience gained in creating the Quantum series has contributed to this evolution and the decision was taken to develop all of the drive units with the aid of our modern measurement and simulation technology, the Klippel® system. The FE Dynamics subwoofer and mid-range drivers feature lightweight, specially coated paper cones while the non-magnetic, fibre-reinforced ABS baskets have been optimised for maximum driver excursion. The finite element method was used to development the magnetic circuits. Large openings in the basket along with voice-coil ventilation ensure high thermal resilience. All of these measures result in a sound which combines exemplary bass power with a natural sounding mid-range.
The F-MAX Super Audio tweeter is equipped with an artifical silk dome and has a specially shaped tweeter flange that optimises horizontal and vertical dispersion while minimising troublesome edge diffraction. The combination of a powerful magnet with the ferro-fluid cooled voice coil results in a particurarly transparent reproduction of high frequencies and makes a significant contribution to the speakers'exceptional capacity for recreating 3 dimensional space. An extremely flat frequency response and the correct phase characteristics have been achieved here, as is the case with all Magnat Quantum crossover networks. The filters operate with an acoustic 24dB slope, which enables a tangile stereo image that is detached from the enclosures to develop.
The cabinets are built from low-resonanse MDF to achieve additional stability while grid-shaped internal braces are fitted to reduce panel resonance and standing waves within the cabinet.
The floor standing speakers come with solid plinths. Height adjustable metal spikes and rubber feet are included to allow optimal location any type of floor. All Vector 200 models are designed as bass refflex speakers with the venting properties being coordinated with each other on the basis of a variety of signal sources as opposed to the more typical development from a single tone at one level. This ensures that the bass notes produced by different instruments at different levels always remain clean. All of the bass-reflex port tubes have flared termination to reduce flow noise. Heavy gauge speaker cables may be connected to the bi-wiring/bi-amping terminals. The centre speakers have been optimised for speech intelligibility to suit the dialogue in movies and have high power handling thanks to their twin bass configuration.
We recomment that subwoofers from the Betasub or Omega range be used to enhance high-quality home cinema systems.
